I knew crime was high, but I didn't prepare for our property to be surrounded by active drugs, felons, and chomos. Our shipping container was hit again; just ransacked. I've spent countless time and money to install fence and other projects so we could build a small cabin with the hopes we could ranch/farm and ultimately build a meadhall (my life's goal). After getting robbed, AGAIN, I looked into some of the names that were dropped locally. HOLY FUKKN SHIT! So every plan is kaput. This land is cursed and the dream is, once again, pushed further away. We're currently working on selling EVERYTHING in our home. If we don't own anything we can't lose anything! The immediate goal is to sell the house, sell our belongings, move everything off the property, and learn everything we can about horses. We're going to live in a modified camper while we travel and learn livestock. Once I feel comfortable enough to break colts we'll build a gypsy wagon and travel year round with horses in the rockies. There are many 1st Gen farmers and cowboys. I'm going to be a first Gen mountain man! This lifestyle will give me much more time to find outside funding for my meadhall project. I don't need to own it, it just needs to be done! We'll make a yearly trek to the meadhall on a horse drawn sheep wagon to pay homage to the gods and our ancestors. I spent years convincing my family to homestead. When I told them plan a was out and plan b was to live nomadically they were ready to go. So here's to the future horsemen we'll become! Working when and where we can and finding the magic within the mountains once again. People think I'm crazy and stupid for doing this...... They're right!!!!! This lifestyle will be wet, hot, cold, windy, dusty, hard, and downright fukking magical. While we're hunting, reading, fishing, praying, riding, and driving cattle......well....keep your 9-5 we'll be alright over here!
